who i am

Hi there! I’m Monica, a product designer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I like to create, listen, empower, and above all, stay curious. In my free time, you can find me eating my way through San Francisco, practicing calligraphy and hand lettering, or just hanging out with my Australian Cattle dog, Koda.

Where I've Been

Throughout my journey to become a product designer, I've worked hard to learn to improve my design and build responsive sites since I did not have a formal design or programming background. I started my career in benefits consulting and worked with companies to design better employee experiences. What I enjoyed most about my previous roles was gaining a deep understanding of the problems and the realities that employees faced in terms of their physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing and solving for it while balancing the needs of my clients.

Where I want to be

I always look for opportunities to grow not only as a designer but also as a stronger communicator and creative problem solver. My ideal role is to design at an organization where I can be challenged to think outside the box, collaborate with some amazing people, and be a part of creating something meaningful that cultivates impactful change.
